Despite our name we welcome men and women of all ages.
Whichever activities are pursued, the essence of a Shed is not a building, but the network of relationships between our members.
What We Do
Our Shed’s activities will usually involve making or mending in wood (e.g. carpentry, joinery, turning, carving, whittling, marquetry, furniture renovation) but may include metalworking (milling, sheet metal, welding, etc.) bike repair, gardening, electronics, tool renovation, boat renovation, model engineering (model railways, planes)Reclamation, reuse and restoration will feature strongly! Despite our name we welcome men, women and young people. Whichever activities are pursued the essence of a Shed is not a building, but the network of relationships between our members.
Who We Are
Men in Sheds are community spaces for people to connect, converse and create. The activities are often similar to those of garden sheds, but for groups of people to enjoy together.
A ‘Shed’ is a place where individuals can come along and take part in craft based activities similar to those they would do at home or in their own garden shed but with the bonus of other like-minded people providing good company in relaxed surroundings. It’s a social group where anyone can be productive, socialise and be part of their local community.
Our Shed facility provides a venue for everyone to share skills and life experiences in a friendly and supportive environment. Currently our activities include joinery, turning, carving, whittling and furniture renovation. Reclamation, reuse, restoration and upcycling feature strongly!
